All LECT activities have now ceased

The League for the Exchange of Commonwealth Teachers (LECT) joined CfBT Education Trust in 2007. LECT promoted excellence in education through international professional development programmes for educators and the LECT International Office Network (LION).

However the UK Government largely funded LECT’s activities and from April 2011 funding was withdrawn following significant cuts in Government and Local Authority spending. Despite investment by CfBT it has not been possible to ensure LECT could function without Government funding and as a result CfBT ceased delivery of LECT’s activities, apart from the teacher exchange programme, on 1 April 2011.

Commonwealth Teacher Exchange Programme

From 11 July 2011, the Commonwealth Teacher Exchange Programme will be managed by Xchange Partners, an arm of the youth development charity Commonwealth Youth Exchange Council (CYEC).
