The Commonwealth Professional Fellowship Programme (CPFP) in
Education Leadership
Since the 1960s the Foreign and
Commonwealth Office has funded the Commonwealth Scholarships
Commission to administer the CPFP which seeks to enhance the skills
of mid-career practitioners in developing countries by supporting
nominating organisations such as LECT to organise professional
development programmes for them in the UK.
LECT was involved in 2008 for the
fifth year in coordinating the CPFP Leadership in Education
Programme. A two month programme began in January 2008 with
four fellows from Tanzania, South Africa and Kenya being hosted by
City of Edinburgh Council children and families department.
The programme aims to enhance the
fellows' professional development, consolidate existing educational
links between Edinburgh and the participating Commonwealth
countries, and develop the global dimension in participating
schools.
LECT successfully hosted two Fellows from Jamaica and Barbados
