Study Visits
Please note we are not currently accepting
applications for study visits. This programme ran until
31/03/2010.
International study visits are
week-long events where participants examine a particular
educational theme in the country they are visiting.
Study visits enhance teachers'
professional development and provide participants with the
opportunity to observe the education systems of other countries,
with identifiable objectives and outcomes.
Study visits are arranged by LECT
are based on a particular theme in education chosen by
the Local Authority. Funding is available for International
Professional Development opportunities for teachers in
England and Northern Ireland. We are interested in hearing
from groups of educators wishing to travel overseas to examine
priority educational themes and innovative approaches to key
educational issues.
Applicants
Applicants must be prepared to show
why and international visit is necessary for their project and how
being awarded a visit will make a significant difference to
achievement and attainment in their schools.
Applications for GROUP Visits taking place in 2009 -
2010 are invited from:
- Local Education Authorities
- School Clusters
- Professional and Subject Associations
- Groups of Practitioners from more than one
school
- Education NGOs
Groups should consist of between 5
and 10 participants and be able to travel between October 2009 and
March 2010. There is no funding available for supply cover,
so travel must be undertaken during holiday times unless additional
funding has been secured to fund necessary cover.
