Teachers International Professional Development (TIPD) Programme

This programme provides teachers with a unique opportunity to study a particular facet of education in another country.

Funded by DCSF more than 17500 teachers have benefited from international study visit research programmes organised through League for the Exchange of Commonwealth Teachers (LECT), Specialist Schools and Academies Trust (SSAT), HTI Leadership Centre (working with Merganser) and the British Council since 2000.  For 2010 - 2011 LECT has an allocation of 300 places and works closely with Local Authorities in England in facilitating first class visits to an increasing number of overseas destinations.

The TIPD programme is recognised worldwide as an outstanding form of CPD .  There is increasing interest from overseas partners and this enables us to identify a specific destination for your project.

NOTE: TIPD is open to teachers working in England.  Scottish teachers should refer to Learning and Teaching Scotland (LTS) and Welsh teachers to the GTCW for details of opportunities available to them.
